Previously, I had bought the Sony Babycall based on recommendations from others. One the first night we used it, that monitor woke me up all night making loud pops. I returned it and bought this based on the reviews.

This is a great monitor!

Pros:

No interference or static! The monitor never randomly turned on. When it did turn on, the sound was clear, not harsh or jarring. It sound just like the baby in the room.

There is a microphone sensitivity feature so you can adjust how much noise you want it to pick up. We were able to adjust it so it only picked up noise when she was waking up.

Built-in night light on the nursery unit. The glow from the night light is very soft, allowing me to see the baby but not wake her up.

Charging base for the parent unit. Other monitors just have the power cord which can fall behind furniture, so the charging base is a nice feature. Batteries are included for the parent unit.

Mute button. I didn't use this feature yet, but it is nice to be able to mute the monitor for 2 minutes while you checked on the baby without bothering your partner.

Great range. It works across the house with no problems. The other monitor would start beeping for being out of range if it was far away and something was in front of it.

Pros:

One negative might be that it is not secure, but, for us, we just turn it off in the morning. Since it is only activated with her noise it is not going to pick up much in the middle of the night.

We had another "best selling" monitor on Amazon previously and were kept up night after night because of the static. Any background noise would also be picked up by the previous monitor. The Angelcare monitor has been a life changer for us. It is definitely a little scary the first time you use it since there is dead silence unless our baby starts crying. We didnt want to be woken up by every little sound she made so this product has been the perfect for only notifying us when the baby is up and needs something. I highly recommend this product to parents looking for a good night's sleep. If you need to hear every sound your baby makes all night long to feel comfortable, then this product is not for you. LIFE changer for us though!

Most other monitors develop a static problem over time as they get older. I have never had a problem with this unit. I don't static and I have never had to change the frequency. It has impeccable range and is above average. We purchased this unit when we realized that the house we were living in was too big not to have one. I have had baby monitors before, but none of this quality. It is a well built model and I don't have any interference, even around my cell phone.
