It was spectacular while it lasted which was about three months. My husband bought a replament (the same kind). He would not have repurchased if had he read the reviews. Looking for another model that will last.

As with most Oxo products the design for this thermometer is top notch. Having the probe store inside the unit like a stylus and wrapping the cord around the outside edge makes storage a sinch. Problem is the probe doesn't read accurately. I placed this probe in the Thanksgiving turkey and within an hour it was reading 170 degrees. I used an instant read thermometer to confirm that this was an inaccurate reading and removed the probe. Once removed and cooled the thermometer still read 120 degrees.
I turned the unit on a day or so later and it appeared to have corrected itself. I tried it three more times. The first two it worked fine and the third it was back to being way off. Bottom line is the unit is unreliable at best.

Things that are great about this unit:

- Did not explode in my hand.
- Large digital display


Things that are terrible about this unit:

-thermometer piece has broken (unseen outter damage but broke) 3 times in 4 times cooking with the unit.
-- oven broke it
-- grill broke it
-- stove top broke it.

I expected this item to span time but instead it sucks and was a total waste of money. It brings sadness to my heart as to how terrible the thermometer piece is on this.
